The Crawford Performance S4B (2.6 Liter budget short block) comes with a new budget 83mm billet crank designed for our clients with the understanding that the budget engine is designed for heavy street use, and light track use with a maximum potential horsepower on pump gas, and a much wider power band while only sacrificing peak torque. While not the most powerful engine Crawford Performance offers it is a much less expensive option for those looking for quicker spool and a wider power band on pump gas.

The 83mm budget cranks improvements over stock is derived from being billet and lighter than OEM, while still retaining a lot of the same features of the OEM design, including the factory style oiling system and center and rear thrust main bearing locations. While these systems have proven to be capable features on the OEM crank to certain power levels, we have found with time, experience and testing, small changes to the design (as found on our 84mm Crank in the S5 motors) will enhance the oiling system for improved bearing lubrication under daily driving and extreme conditions only found on Crawford Performance designed billet cranks.

While this engine is considered our budget stroker package we have also included our standard Crawford Spec JE pistons (found in all our S3L packages) with offset pins for quieter operation and a donut dish design for improved combustion and power. With the improved rod ratio from the longer H-beam rods helps to curve side loads the closer bore to stroke ratio helps improves the combustion efficiency of the engine. Once again while this is not our top tier engine, it is a great entry level stroker engine for those looking for reliability during daily driving while running pump gas.
